The exhibition presents the findings of the archaeological excavations carried out on the territory of the Bernardine Monastery between 1993 and 2008. The exhibition includes authentic household and liturgical objects and fragments used by the monks, as well as other finds. The exhibits reveal the life and daily routine of the Bernardines, allowing us to imagine their daily life and celebrations, and to recall the festive and tragic events that surrounded the Church of St Michael the Archangel, the monastery and its inhabitants. The more than 250 archaeological finds are enhanced and explained by stands with textual and historical information, photographs, carvings, plans and drawings. A documentary made especially for this exhibition introduces us to the Bernardine sisters who are still alive today and the history of the monastery as told through their own lips, interwoven with the observations and insights of archaeologists and historians.
