The book presents the history and the most important episodes of the St. Michael the archangel Bernardine Sisters Monastery in Vilnius, with a focus on the cultural and artistic legacy of the Bernardine nuns. In the Soviet era the monastery was closed. The convent ensemble was damaged by negligence, part of the paintings were scattered in museums or disappeared. The artworks which used to belong to the monastery, were brought back with the efforts of researchers, restorers and museum workers and now are exhibited in the Church Heritage Museum which is housed in the former convent.
